Breakfast! Miss Wanderlust’s most favourite meal of the day. As they say, a good day starts with good breakfast. Here’s a list of our favourite places in Bangalore to grab some delicious breakfast – giving you some added incentive to wake up early and step out.

1. Hole In The Wall Cafe, Koramangala

True to its name, the cafe is tiny – but their food is just marvelous. Flip through their menu as you wait for your table – you will be spoiled for choice. We recommend you absolutely try the omelette, sandwiches and delicious pancakes. Read: 21 Awesome Things That Happen Only In Bangalore

2. Koshy’s, MG Road

One of Bangalore’s most iconic breakfast options – especially on Sunday, when steaming hot dishes of appam and stew are served. Koshy’s is laced with a sense of an era gone by – relive some nostalgia as you tuck into a sandwich, a special filter coffee (or a pot tea). Read: Five Things To Do In Bombay (Before It’s Too Late)

3. Egg Factory, various locations

There was a time when Miss Wanderlust was obsessed with this restaurant – making almost a daily affair of visiting it! Egg Factory offers great ambiance, excellent value for money and some really lip smacking egg preparations. A personal favourite is the Bun Masala and the mysterious sounding M’enage’a Trois (meaning ‘a threesome’ in French, at Egg Factory, it is an egg omelette stuff with three ingredients).

4. Vidyarthi Bhavan, Basvangudi

No one does a masala dosa quite like these guys. This old school eatery in the heart of old Bangalore is a definite must-visit. We found is fascinating that there is no menu and no order taken – plates of masala dosa are simply churned out of the kitchen and heaped before diners. Special mention for the filter coffee as well.

5. Veena Stores, Malleswaram

The name may be misleading – but this is one of Bangalore’s favourite old time joints. Dig into soft fluffy idlis (which melt in your mouth) crispy vadas and steaming filter coffee. Veena Stores started off as a condiments store in 1977 – and there’s been no looking back ever since.

6. Daddy’s Deli, Indiranagar

A charming little cafe tucked away off 100 Feet Road, Indiranagar, Daddy’s Deli serves marvelous, home-style Parsi food. The owners personally wait tables (the son of the family is a the head chef at the eatery) giving the place a lovely, warm touch. The chocolate waffles are just phenomenal! Read: Meet Boman Kohinoor, the Legend Of Britannia & Co.

7. Indian Coffee House, Church Street

Another personal favourite. The coffee here is to die for – can’t comment on the food, because I usually fill myself up with the coffee. The waiters, with their awesome head gear, make for a fascinating sight.

8. Brahmin’s Coffee Bar, Basavangudi

Brahmin’s Coffee Bar has a menu with only four items on it – idli, vada, kesari bath and khara bath. And each of these dishes is absolutely worth a try! Old timers swear the food here tastes the same since Brahmin’s was established 46 years ago. Read: 6 Spectacular Restaurants Every Food Lover Must Visit

If you’re feeling like a hearty breakfast in Bangalore, know that there’s a MTR close by to visit!
